Colour Workshop

Paintworks Art Studios Okotoks,

Monday January 16, 23, 30 and February 6, 2023, 6:30PM – 9PM

One of the things that helped me evolve in my art is that I learned to understand colour better. As kids we start seeing colour in kind of broad categories like e.g. yellow, red, blue. At a given point we start to add nuances like e.g. light blue, dark blue, blue green. The moment you start to make art using colour you quickly understand that the nuances are infinite and that it is difficult to actually paint the colour that you have in your minds eye. All of a sudden something that seemed so straightforward isn't straightforward at all. Learning to understand colour will help you to enhance your artwork by actually making colour work for you. In this workshop I want to share with you what I learned by explaining what colour is, the terminology used to describe it and how you can make it work for you. We will start a colour journal and will do lots of hands on experimenting with all the topics that will be presented.
